Mother Hunger Support Group, Monday May 15th

Women with Mother Hunger often have the experience of being parentified as children, taking on the role of caregiver, of their mother and/or siblings at an early age because their mother wasn’t able or willing to provide that appropriate care.

What happens when that same mother that wouldn’t or couldn’t provide care for their child is now elderly and/or sick and in need of care again from their adult daughter?

Feelings of anger, resentment, bitterness, and ambiguity are all valid emotions to have and yet not usually socially/culturally acceptable.

How do adult daughters with Mother Hunger set healthy boundaries with their mother who is aging/sick and unable to care for themselves at this time?

How can adult daughters with Mother Hunger decide how much “care” they are willing or able to provide while releasing the feelings of unjustified guilt, shame, and resentment?

If you are experiencing, have experienced, or will experience being an adult daughter caregiving for an emotionally immature and/or emotionally abusive mother, there is a support group available for you.
